Is it time to Lifestream?
I've been seeing this phrase bounced around a lot. Early adopter and general social-media-bon-vivant Steve Rubel has abandoned blogging for it, and Posterous.com seems to be built for it. He discusses his reasons for "forking" his content here, and they seem to make sense on the whole.
For me, I'm trying to determine how much of this concept will be relevant to the unsophisticated user. Most of my clients are taking notice of Twitter, for example, (and most of them meet the criteria of the unsophisticated user ;) and have asked me to brief them on it. But none of them have taken the plunge. They are, like many out there, skeptical about whether it's worth the time resources, and they are concerned about it's longevity. I try to get them to understand that it's a tool of the movement towards social media, and not an end in itself. They're warming to that concept. So now I need, like Steve, to simply try and stay ahead. As they catch up I will hopefully have moved on to the next best thing. It's a good thing I enjoy the chase, because there's more than a few rabbit holes.
Primarily, this message is a test: I'm emailing it from my Gmail account, and I'm checking to see if Posterous distributes it across my channels properly. I'm also curious to see what it does with my sig provided by Wisestamp for Gmail.
Is this the new way to go?
